Bircan Çağlar is a multidisciplinary performer with a strong foundation in physical theatre. After completing a 16‑month training program at Craft Tiyatro, she continued her development with a 6‑month intensive in physical theatre based on the Jacques Lecoq pedagogy at Harolab.Driven by a deep search for physical expression in theatre, Bircan has expanded her practice through yoga and ongoing pole dance training. She is currently developing an innovative solo show that uniquely blends clowning and pole performance. Aiming to reach international audiences, Bircan brings a bold, physical, and original approach to contemporary performance.
Bircan also translates plays from English to Turkish, including Waterproof, which was staged at Craft Theatre. Alongside her role as an English language instructor at a private university, she actively works in international films, Turkish commercials, movies, TV series, and can perform fluently in both English and Turkish, with conversational Spanish.

This Clown-Pole performance is the result of Bircan’s ongoing curiosity and her search for new ways to express. After years of exploration, she found freedom in two likely companions: a pole and a clown. The pole, with its acrobatic potential, and the clown, with its emotional depth and absurdity, opened up a rich new language. This 30-minute piece is still in its early days—growing, shifting, and finding its own rhythm.

WORKSHOPS GIVEN
Bircan created her clown workshop by blending the clown trainings she's taken with her background in education. It’s shaped by the experiences she's had, the workshops she's attended, and the readings she's explored. Her aim is to offer something useful for the actors and those just starting out — a space to learn, play, and grow. While leading this workshop, she found herself deeply inspired by the participants and learned just as much through teaching.

Armed with a pole and a red nose, this solo clown dives into the mess—both literal and emotional. “The Cleaner” is a 30-minute physical comedy about order, chaos, and the strange freedom found in scrubbing everything (and everyone) down to the bone!

Bircan Çağlar, fiziksel tiyatro temelli disiplinlerarası bir performans sanatçısıdır. Craft Tiyatro’da aldığı 16 aylık oyunculuk eğitiminin ardından, Harolab’da Jacques Lecoq pedagojisine dayanan 6 aylık yoğun bir fiziksel tiyatro programıyla çalışmalarını derinleştirdi.Tiyatroda bedensel ifade arayışını merkeze alan Bircan, yoga ve sürdürdüğü pole dans çalışmalarıyla pratiğini zenginleştirmektedir. Şu anda, palyaçoluk ile pole performansını özgün bir şekilde harmanlayan yenilikçi bir solo gösteri üzerine çalışıyor. Amacı, uluslararası seyircilere ulaşarak çağdaş sahne sanatlarına cesur, bedensel ve özgün bir yorum katmak.Bircan ayrıca İngilizceden Türkçeye oyun çevirileri yapmaktadır. Çevirisini üstlendiği Waterproof oyunu, Craft Tiyatro’da sahnelenmiştir. Özel bir üniversitede İngilizce eğitmenliği görevini sürdüren Bircan, aynı zamanda uluslararası filmlerde, Türk reklamlarında, sinema ve televizyon projelerinde aktif olarak yer almakta; Türkçe ve İngilizceyi akıcı, İspanyolcayı ise konuşma düzeyinde kullanabilmektedir.

Bu Clown-Pole performansı, Bircan’ın bitmek bilmeyen merakının ve kendini ifade etmenin yeni yollarını arayışının bir sonucudur. Yıllar süren keşiflerin ardından özgürlüğü iki uyumlu yoldaşta buldu: bir direk ve bir palyaço. Direğin akrobatik potansiyeli ve palyaçonun duygusal derinliği ile absürtlüğü, zengin ve yeni bir ifade dili açığa çıkardı. Bu 30 dakikalık parça hâlâ gelişme aşamasında—büyüyor, dönüşüyor ve kendi ritmini buluyor.
